We Are Managers

Alright, I’m going to rant here but I’ll keep it short. I could turn this into an essay with examples and screenshots, etc.  However, I don’t want to waste any more time dwelling on my outrage.

One of the recent updates to my computer’s operating system has inflicted AI throughout like a virus.  Email is one of the places where this has become a problem.  For some reason, the software engineers have determined to add categories to make sorting my 200+ messages easier.  AI displays these categories and attempts to guess which buckets they belong in.

This has added a managerial layer to my email.  I don’t care.  90% of it is garbage anyway.  I also don’t need to respond to that email from 3 weeks ago that it thinks I have ignored so don’t put it at the top of my list.

All of this adds a new job function to my daily life that I didn’t ask for – managing this stuff.  Creating categories, tagging mail and figuring out an organizational system is beyond my pay grade.  Enough already!  I can go through.

Our digital life has made tasks a lot easier and saves time.  However, it is becoming bloated and time-waisting with lots processes to manage.  By 2030 we will become managers and be happy.
