In the late aughts I started sketching alleys on the computer. I had always wanted to paint alley scenes but Scenic painting did not interest me. However, with a growing interest in digital drawing, this might be time to give it a shot.
As I progressed, I thought that these were pretty good. How could I incorporate this into my painting. Painting scenes wasn’t my scene. I painted off-kilter, cropped elements putting them together to tell a story. After a little playing around I figured i out and painted a series of alleys.
At first it was fun. I was exploring line and abstraction. They were quick and breezy. It was all new.
After a couple of years, boredom started to creep in. In an act of vandalism, I took finished paintings and added a mischievous little troll which a friend later called “That Little Feller.” A new sub-series was born. I did 3 and here are 2 of them.
