Venice Beach
This piece is inspired by a trip to Los Angeles. During a walk along Venice Beach, I encountered an odd-looking, tangled mess of succulent seaweed. The aquatic plant had these flipper-like leaves and bladders, that I would imagine, helped the plant stay buoyant for whatever reason. I later found out that this is kelp. Living in the Great Lakes region, I had never seen this well-known salt-water plant.
