Corner Snack Shop
This painting was inspired by the New Jackson Hotel at Halsted and Jackson in Chicago. It is one of the few buildings like it left. Whole sections of the city looked like this block. I'm not sure if there are any more areas like it, but the last chunk that I know of was demolished to make way for University of Illinois' expansion. There is a Disneyesque reproduction of a late 19th century street, an olde tyme street if you will, using some of the old facades. It seems as if the city will eventually become a cartoon of itself.
